The Boppy Company recalled about 3.3 million Boppy Newborn Loungers in September 2021 after eight babies tragically died from suffocation. Boppy Pillow Recall: What Happened?
According to the company’s website, the Boppy Company conducted a voluntary recall of its Newborn Lounger product “to address a risk of infant suffocation.”
“Infants can suffocate if they roll, move, or are placed on the lounger in a position that obstructs breathing, or roll off the lounger onto an external surface, such as an adult pillow or soft bedding, that obstructs breathing,” the notice revealed.
“There have been eight reports of infant deaths associated with The Boppy Company Newborn Lounger and this hazard,” the notice continued. “The infant deaths occurred between December 2015 and June 2020.”
The Boppy Newborn Loungers affected by the recall are:
- Boppy Original Newborn Loungers
- Boppy Preferred Newborn Loungers
- Pottery Barn Kids Boppy Newborn Loungers
