Laundress Bacterial Contamination Lawsuit

Millions of units of Laundress cleaning products and laundry detergent were recalled as a result of possible bacterial contamination with Burkholderia cepacia complex (B. cepacia), Klebsiella aerogenes, and different species of Pseudomonas. Now, affected consumers may be able to file a Laundress bacterial contamination lawsuit if they qualify to do so, with the help of experienced attorneys like the ones at Phillips Law Group.

Laundress Bacterial Contamination: What Happened?

According to the Laundress website, in December 2022, Laundress laundry detergent, fabric conditioner and other cleaning products were recalled because there was a chance the products contained bacteria, including Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes, and “multiple different species of Pseudomonas, many of which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water, and some may also be found in humans.”

Unfortunately, individuals with “weakened immune systems, external medical devices, and underlying lung conditions who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment,” the recall on the site revealed. In general, infection with these types of bacteria could be serious or life-threatening.

Specifically, the Cleveland Clinic reported that “Multiyear studies aren’t clear on the survival rate for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection. Healthcare providers estimate between 39% and 82% of people who have a Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection survive.” Ultimately, the bacteria “can cause a potentially fatal infection that spreads to other areas of your body and triggers other serious conditions, including sepsis and organ failure.”

The Laundress noted that symptoms can range from mild skin symptoms to more serious signs of infection, and those who may have been impacted should contact their doctor.

Now, people who developed infections after using The Laundress laundry detergents or other products may be able to file a Laundress bacterial contamination lawsuit.
