Phillips Law Group is investigating Peloton Tread+ injuries after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) accused Peloton Interactive Inc. of “knowingly” failing “to immediately report to CPSC, as required by law, that its Tread+ treadmill contained a defect that could create a substantial product hazard and created an unreasonable risk of serious injury to consumers.”
Peloton later agreed to pay a $19,065,000 civil penalty, but only after several incidents of children/animals/objects being sucked up under the treadmill, in some cases resulting in serious injury or death.

Peloton Tread+ Injury Reports
The CPSC and Peloton announced the recall of 125,000 Tread+ treadmills on May 5, 2021, following the death of a child. By mid-October 2022, in addition to the reported death, Peloton had received 335 incident reports, including 87 reports of injuries to consumers.
These machines weigh 455 pounds and pose major risks to children, especially, for abrasions, fractures, and death. However, the truth is, adult users, children, pets, and objects can all be pulled underneath the rear roller, which is a clear risk of injury or death.
Before the recall, there were reports of injuries to children such as second- and third-degree abrasions, broken bones, and lacerations. Unfortunately, these products can pose a grave risk to kids or to any user if they malfunction.
After the recall, consumers were advised to immediately stop using the recalled Peloton Tread+ treadmills. But if you owned one of these products, and the conveyor belt on the recalled Peloton Tread+ machine malfunctioned and resulted in an injury to you or a loved one, you may have a right to file a claim and seek compensation for your pain and suffering.
As a consumer, you are owed a duty of care and responsibility by the manufacturer of Peloton products. Our firm may be able to help you pursue legal measures to seek accountability.
