Phillips CPAP Ventilator Lawyer

In June 2021, Philips Respironics issued a voluntary recall of millions of CPAP and BiPAP devices manufactured before April 26, 2021. These devices have been linked to a higher risk of developing lung cancer and other serious health conditions. If you’ve used one of these devices and suffer from a potentially linked health problem, you might want to consider looking into a Philips CPAP ventilator lawsuit.

Philips CPAP Ventilator Lawsuit: Recalls

Since 2021, Philips has racked up several Class I recalls — in mid-October 2022, the FDA handed down a sixth Class I rating in a safety alert. At that point, the FDA counted a total of 18,670,643 devices recalled in the United States alone.

Now, Philips has reached a $1.1 billion deal to settle claims from individuals who say they were injured by these devices, according to NPR

“Since April 2021, the FDA has received more than 116,000 MDRs [Medical Device Reports], including 561 reports of death,” that were reported or suspected to be related to issues with insulating foam in the devices, the FDA said in 2024.

“Philips and Philips Respironics do not admit any fault or liability, or that any injuries were caused by Respironics’ devices,” Philips noted when it announced the new settlement agreement.
