On December 28, 2023, Blendjet, Inc. recalled a variety of BlendJet 2 portable blenders. Notably, this recall only came after a lawsuit was filed against BlendJet. If you or a loved one purchased a recalled BlendJet portable blender and got injured by the device, you may be able to pursue legal action against the company.
BlendJet Portable Blender Recall
In December 2023, about 4.8 million portable blenders by BlendJet were recalled, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. According to the agency, “the recalled blenders can overheat or catch fire and the blender blades can break off, posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers.”
While the recall involves BlendJet portable blenders in several colors and designs, the recalled products are approximately 9.5 inches in height and 3 inches in width and weigh about 1.5 pounds. “Units where the first 4 digits of the serial number are between 5201 and 5542” are affected, according to the CPSC.
The recall notice reveals that 329 reports of the blades breaking while in use were reported. There were also 17 reports of overheating or fires, and about 49 reports of minor burns, with one additional report of a laceration injury.
Before that recall, a September 2023 lawsuit alleged that BlendJet manufactured and sold BlendJet 2 blenders that break or stop working within a short time and that the company continued to market it despite these problems. If deceptive practices by the manufacturer caused injury to consumers, they may be able to face accountability in the form of legal action.
