Arizona Helping Hands is an amazing organization that provides essential services to children in foster care – a mission that Phillips Law Group strongly believes in and supports. Currently, the nonprofit is hard at work on a backpack drive for foster kids throughout the state, with the goal of collecting 7,500 backpacks and school supplies to serve children throughout the year.
Recently, Arizona Helping Hands held a launch event celebrating its new mobile unit, which will act as a pop-up shop for foster children and families in parts of the state further away from the AZHH resource center. Through July 21, more than 250 children in foster care received a backpack filled with school supplies through the pop-up events alone!
The organization has already held pop-up events in Kingman, Flagstaff, Prescott, Tuba City, Window Rock, Show Low, Tucson, Casa Grande, Globe, and Mesa. There are also planned events at Yuma and Goodyear, where more than 300 kids have already signed up for backpacks.
The services that Arizona Helping Hands provides to these kids are unmatched and can be life-changing. Too often, foster children are removed from their homes with nothing but the clothes they have on, and having things that make them feel special – like their own, brand new backpack and school supplies – can make all the difference. Initiatives like this backpack drive help ensure that children on a foster care journey thrive – always.
Phillips Law Group proudly supports AZ Helping Hands in its mission and helped fund the launch of the mobile unit alongside the Phoenix Suns and other funding partners. We are currently collecting backpacks at our downtown Phoenix office as well as donations so that the organization can buy more backpacks to help kids in need.
