Phillips Law Group held its first “packing party” of the year to benefit Women4Women Tempe on February 2 and filled nearly 500 bags of feminine hygiene products for girls in foster care, women experiencing homelessness or facing financial hardship, and others in need of the items. The first packing party of 2024 was a phenomenal success and featured 17 volunteers who helped make a difference with just a few hours of their time.

Packing Parties at Phillips Law Group

Women4Women Tempe’s mission is “to help homeless and low-income women in our communities maintain their dignity, health, and self-respect by providing feminine hygiene products to those in need.” The organization delivers approximately 3,500 pad and tampon bags a month to over 40 distribution sites and relies on donations and volunteers for help.

One way volunteers can help is through these packing parties! Phillips Law Group has regularly hosted these parties on-site at its midtown Phoenix office and assisted in putting together these bags for Women4Women Tempe to distribute. The February 2 event was the first of 2024 but far from the last we have planned with this amazing organization.

All in all, Phillips Law Group brought together 11 volunteers from the firm as well as six visiting volunteers for this particular packing party. They worked for two hours and managed to fill 478 bags, with each bag including either 15 tampons or 12 pads, 6 panty liners, 3 feminine wipes, and 3 hand wipes.

Sharon Mews, an Office Support Assistant on the Marketing team at the firm, noted that a nearby deli employee joined them for the first packing party of 2024 and how excited she was to work with the rest of the team of volunteers to help an amazing cause.

“She was very eager to help!” Sharon explained. Not only did the volunteer assist with the packing efforts, but she also brought juice and water for the volunteers to partake in as they worked.

Ilce Mondragon, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Phillips Law Group, noted after a previous Women4Women Tempe packing party event that she’s been told that the nonprofit organization usually has to bring all of the supplies needed to fill bags at packing parties. But when our firm hosts one, that’s not the case.

“They love us because we provide everything,” she said.

Phillips Law Group is proud to have a strong partnership with Women4Women Tempe and with all of our community partners. A commitment to community service is a core value at our firm, and our team is always passionate about working together on outreach efforts however we can.
