Our firm is not known for backing down from a chance to lend a hand, and the opportunity for several Phillips Law Group staff members to volunteer at Catholic Charities MANA House in early December to decorate for the holidays was no different. The volunteers spread Christmas cheer at MANA House for all the Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force veterans the organization serves and got to have a little bit of holiday fun of their own in the process.

Making Christmas at MANA House

On December 5, six volunteers from Phillips Law Group arrived at MANA House ready to decorate, serve, and spread cheer. They brought hot cocoa, coffee, and dozens of cookies for the veterans at MANA House, and used festive tablecloths, napkins, and platters to serve the delicious goodies.

A few volunteers picked up a tree to decorate the rec room at the facility and completed the festive look with ornaments that said Army and Marines. Although they couldn’t find ornaments to represent other military branches, the tree still looked spectacular and managed to symbolize many of the veterans that MANA House works with every day.

The dining hall of MANA House also got a tree, with one veteran helping volunteers to adorn it with silver ornaments, a lovely bow for the tree top, and silver bells to give it a beautiful overall theme of winter wonderland delight.  Finally, the chapel at the facility also got a white tree with red and navy ornaments and tinsel, as well as a red set of treetop bells. A navy and silver bow sat on top of that tree, resulting in a patriotic look sure to be appreciated by all the MANA House veterans.

Phillips Law Group volunteers also put up stockings for the veterans – 64 in total – with a candy cane included in every stocking. Decorative snowflakes and signs were also hung throughout MANA House, bringing Christmas to every corner of the amazing facility.

By the end of all the decorating, “Every one of the volunteers was smiling, laughing, and even singing Christmas songs,” Sharon Mews, an Office Support Assistant on the Marketing Team at Phillips Law Group and one of the volunteers, said of the outreach opportunity. One of the veterans was even seen singing along to the festive music that played as the volunteers worked hard to bring the Christmas cheer at MANA House.

Phillips Law Group regularly participates in outreach events and has volunteer opportunities available for anyone interested. Please read more about our community involvement, and contact us if you’d like to get involved this holiday season!
