Massage Envy Sexual Abuse Lawsuit

Massage Envy, a nationwide chain of massage therapy clinics, has faced numerous allegations of sexual abuse by massage therapists employed at its locations. There are over 1,000 locations nationwide, with franchise locations in 49 different states. Allegations against Massage Envy include sexual assault, groping, and inappropriate touching during sessions, among other claims. For instance, in April 2024, a woman sued a Massage Envy parlor in Fort Worth, Texas, alleging she was sexually assaulted by a therapist during a full-body massage, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The outlet reported that during a session, the woman “woke up to the employee touching her breasts and told him to stop.” Then, after the woman turned over onto her stomach later in the session, “the therapist then began massaging her buttocks with the sheet taken off and she again told him to stop…He allegedly continued to massage her, touched her upper thighs, and attempted to pull her legs apart.” The woman told him to stop and ended the appointment, and ultimately chose to report the assault to the Massage Envy location and the police and to pursue a Massage Envy sexual abuse claim.

Survivors of similar cases have also accused the company of neglecting to act on reports of abuse, allowing alleged perpetrators to continue working. Many lawsuits allege that Massage Envy failed to conduct thorough background checks, properly investigate complaints, or implement adequate safeguards to prevent abuse.
