Atlanta Dream Center Human Trafficking Allegations
A woman in Georgia alleged she was trafficked by Atlanta Dream Center Church and Assemblies of God as a ministry student, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She filed a lawsuit against them in April 2025.
“The woman, identified in the lawsuit as K.D., said she escaped the Atlanta church in 2015 severely malnourished after months of working long, unpaid shifts in kitchens and catered events,” the outlet reported.
“The woman, now 29, said she was tricked into participating in the church’s Atlanta School of Ministry program, then forced to live and work in filthy and dangerous environments with other students.”
Additionally, the individual claimed she was robbed and sexually assaulted twice by an event patron and church leader while she was part of the program, which she joined at 18 years old in 2014.
“We’re aware of many more who suffered through the same sort of trafficking and trafficking conditions,” Kim Dougherty, an attorney for K.D., told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Atlanta Dream Center human trafficking lawsuit alleges that vulnerable individuals were subjected to forced labor, emotional manipulation, and unjust conditions under the pretense of religious service. These reports are deeply troubling, and they demand accountability.
Pursuing a Human Trafficking Lawsuit
Human trafficking is a horrific crime, whether it occurs in the shadows or under the cover of a trusted institution. Survivors deserve compassionate legal advocates who will stand beside them, amplify their voices, and hold perpetrators fully responsible.
As part of the lawsuit, “K.D.” said the Atlanta church leaders “used shaming, religious manipulation, and grooming tactics to ensure she was subservient, obedient, and silent,” according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The church entities involved may have violated the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, and they need to be brought to justice.
