MESA, AZ – Two people were killed Sunday morning when their vehicle crashed into a utility pole in east Mesa.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, the fatal accident happened at about 6:45 p.m. near 8th Avenue and Balboa Drive. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit a power pole and then caught fire in the roadway.
Both of the vehicle’s unidentified occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the fatal crash.
