Sexual Assault in the Real Estate Industry

Sexual assault is an unfortunately pervasive issue across many industries, and the real estate sector is no exception. Agents, brokers, and other professionals often work in isolated settings – private showings, open houses, late-night meetings, and more  – creating opportunities for predators to exploit vulnerable individuals. Victims may face harassment, coercion, or even physical assault by clients, colleagues, or supervisors. Despite the risks, many survivors hesitate to come forward due to fear of retaliation, professional repercussions, or disbelief. If this issue has impacted you or a loved one, you may be able to pursue a lawsuit regarding sexual assault in the real estate industry.

Sexual Abuse in Real Estate

In December 2024, the Associated Press reported that two luxury real estate brokers and their brother were charged with “luring, drugging, and violently raping dozens of women over more than a decade.”

Oren and Tal Alexander, known for brokering deals on high-end properties in New York City and Miami, and sibling Alon Alexander used their wealth and influence to take advantage of women from at least 2010 to 2021,” the outlet reported.

That’s one example of how a couple of bad apples working in the industry can take advantage of their position, connections, and prestige to harm others. Sadly, female real estate agents have also reported being sexually harassed or abused by potential clients on the job.

At Phillips Law Group, we stand with survivors and fight to hold perpetrators and negligent parties accountable. Whether the assault occurred during a property showing, at a brokerage firm, or through a real estate transaction, you have legal rights.

Property owners, employers, and agencies may be held liable if they fail to provide adequate security, ignore prior complaints, or foster a hostile work environment. There is an urgent need for legal action to demand justice and systemic change within the real estate industry, and our team wants to help.
