Dr. Scott Lee Allegations

The Sacramento Bee reported that Dr. Lee “performed abusive, invasive and unnecessary exams on pregnant women and others incarcerated at the California Institution for Women in Chino.”

Six women filed a civil lawsuit against the licensed OB-GYN in February 2025. “According to the complaint, the six women say that they endured abusive pap smears and biopsies and coerced exams, including breast and anal examinations, and that those who crossed him allegedly faced retaliation, including withholding of medical treatment,” The Los Angeles Times reported.

According to the outlet, one woman alleged that during a December 2022 doctor’s visit for a skin condition that necessitated the use of a prescription for a topical cream medication, Dr. Lee insisted on doing a pelvic exam. During the exam, the gynecologist allegedly “inserted his fingers into her with such force that ‘he tore her open, causing her intense pain.’” She also claimed that a nurse was present but did not intervene or report the doctor.

Dr. Lee was the only full-time gynecologist at the California Institution for Women, a high-security prison in Chino, from 2016 to 2023.
