Over 100 women have filed lawsuits against Cedars-Sinai and one of their former doctors alleging decades of sexual misconduct, according to CBS News. In October 2024, a lawsuit “filed on behalf of 35 former patients outlines claims that OB/GYN Barry J. Brock allegedly sexually exploited and abused women while they were receiving care,” the outlet noted.

“The attorneys claimed the center knew about the alleged abuse but allowed him to continue practicing medicine for decades.”

In early January 2025, more than 100 additional women joined those who had previously accused Dr. Brock of sexual misconduct. They also claimed they were “exploited and abused by Brock under the guise of medical care at Cedars-Sinai.”

The claims include inappropriate comments and touching, grooming tactics. exploitative exams, and more, CBS News reported. The lawsuits claim that clients filed numerous complaints to medical staff, but nothing was done about the complaints and the patients were not protected.

Specifically, a 2024 lawsuit filing in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleged that Dr. Barry Brock had “made lewd and unsettling comments to patients; groped their breasts and genitals during medically unnecessary exams, sometimes without gloves; and engaged in ‘female genital mutilation’ by giving women unneeded sutures, among other reported misconduct,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

“The suit also alleges the longtime physician denied cesarean sections to patients who needed them,” the outlet revealed.

Cedars-Sinai and Dr. Brock Respond to Allegations

In a statement to CBS Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai claimed, “The type of behavior alleged about Dr. Barry Brock is counter to Cedars-Sinai’s core values and the trust we strive to earn every day with our patients. Dr. Brock no longer has privileges to practice medicine at Cedars-Sinai, and we have reported this matter to the California Medical Board.”

“We recognize the legal process must now take its course, and we remain committed to Cedars-Sinai’s sacred healing mission and serving our community.”

Dr. Brock responded in a statement that the allegations against him” were false and outrageous, calling them ‘flat-out lies, made up events that never happened, exaggerated and fabricated statements, and worse,’” the Los Angeles Times noted.
