Committing time to making a difference in the community is important to our firm, and we’ve had several opportunities for volunteers from our team to go out and assist with community outreach in September. There’s never a shortage of opportunities to give back for anyone who wants to devote just a little bit of their time toward making our world a better place.
Foster Alliance – September 5
In early September, Phillips Law Group volunteers helped out in the Foster Alliance warehouse, sorting clothes for the individuals the organization serves and sizing them as needed. Once volunteers sized the articles of clothing, they were counted and put into clearly marked boxes to keep things organized.
The volunteers at this event were upbeat and, ultimately, very effective; by the end of their time there, Phillips Law Group volunteers had gone through more than a whole crate of boxes that had clothes in need of sorting.
Maggie’s Place – September 12 and September 13
There were actually two recent opportunities for volunteers to help out at Maggie’s Place, an organization that we have a strong, ongoing partnership with!
On September 12, several volunteers gave a few hours of their time to assist the nonprofit that provides safe housing and a community for homeless pregnant women. They included attorney Trey Dayes, attorney Randy Dayes, and Dallin Dayes, who is an employee of Dayes Law Firm, our sister firm.
“This father and son trio enthusiastically volunteered and sacrificed their time to help,” Sharon Mews, the Community Outreach Assistant at Phillips Law Group, noted.
“I believe this was their first time each volunteering at Maggie’s Place.”
The volunteers made birthday cards for the children that Maggie’s Place works with, and Trey Dayes said he thought the experience was “great.”
“We really enjoyed visiting,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dallin Dayes said of the experience, “I loved it. It made me happy to see the effort that is being put in to help members of the community. It’s a great cause.”
Finally, Randy Dayes said of Maggie’s Place, “I thought it was a wonderful place with a wonderful purpose. [It’s] great to see people making a difference in the community. Kindness is powerful.”
The very next day, a few more volunteers helped with ornaments for a gift tree for Maggie’s Place as well. Although it may seem early, it’s never too soon to get a jumpstart on preparations for the holiday season.
One volunteer, Olivia, said of the experience, “We worked on ornaments for a gift tree. All the ornaments had different gifts ranging from books, toys, makeup, and gift cards. It was so fun getting into some early holiday spirit and made me so excited for cooler weather.”
“I also got excited thinking about what Phillips Law Group may be hosting this Christmas since I had so much fun last year picking out gifts for the giving tree we had,” she added. “Plus cutting out the ornaments was a nice, relaxing craft.”
Another volunteer, Lauren, shared her thoughts as well. “We got to cut and string ornaments for their holiday events,” she explained. “The ornaments were super cute, and I loved that the designer included graphics of each gift.”
“The mothers and sweet babies are going to love each gift and it was so special to put them together!” she said.
No matter where or how we are helping out, Phillips Law Group volunteers always bring joy and enthusiasm to community outreach. We’d love to have additional volunteers join us at future events, so please feel free to contact us to find out how you, too, can give back to our community!
