Do I Have a Time Limit to Submit My Claim?

For example, if your claim is against a government official or entity, you must provide notice of claim to that entity within 180 days after the accident. These types of lawsuits generally must be filed within one year of the accident.
If the claim is being filed by a minor, he or she may have up to two years after his or her 18th birthday to make the submission.
Depending on the details of your claim, there may be other instances where the deadline for filing could be different from the standard two-year deadline. If you do not submit your claim on time, your case may be barred from court and you may lose the chance to recover compensation.

Can I Still Pursue Compensation if I Was Partially At-Fault?
Since the state of Arizona has a comparative negligence law, accident victims may still be able to seek financial compensation for their damages if they are partially at fault for the accident.
However, any compensation award that you receive may be reduced based on your percentage of fault assigned by an insurance company or jury. For example, if you were seeking to recover $50,000 in damages and you were found to be 10 percent at fault for the accident, you may only be eligible to receive $45,000.
What if the Other Driver is Not Insured?
Since Arizona is a tort liability state, the driver who is found to be at fault for the accident is financially liable for the costs of the victim’s damages. That is why the state requires drivers to purchase liability coverage if they cause an accident. Liability insurance pays for things like medical bills and lost wages from an accident caused by the policyholder.
Required minimums for liability insurance in Arizona are:
- $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident in liability coverage
- $10,000 in property damage
Although driving in Arizona without auto insurance is illegal, many drivers are still doing it. That is why the state also requires drivers to purchase uninsured motorist coverage in the following amounts, at minimum:
- $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident
Arizona also requires underinsured motorist coverage, which applies to accidents where the at-fault driver does not have enough coverage for your damages. The required minimum amount of this coverage is the same as it is for uninsured motorist coverage.
