Celebrating International Women’s Day at Phillips Law Group

March 8 is International Women’s Day, and to mark the special occasion, Phillips Law Group had lunch catered for our hardworking employees as a thank you to our female staff members in particular who help make our firm the amazing workplace that it is. But we also wanted to highlight a few of our female attorneys for International Women’s Day at Phillips Law Group as part of celebrating this important holiday.

What is International Women’s Day?

According to the International Women’s Day website, “International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.”

“Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality,” the site notes.

The event is marked annually and is an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements, work toward the cause of accelerated gender parity, and more. This year’s campaign theme is Inspire Inclusion and is about inspiring others to understand and value women’s inclusion in order to “forge a better world,” the IWD website states.

At Phillips Law Group, our firm is proudly family-owned with a large percentage of Hispanic and female employees. Our company is constantly striving to cultivate a diverse, inclusive work environment, and to celebrate this holiday, we wanted to briefly put a spotlight on just a few female members of our legal team.

Ruthann James – Phillips Law Group

Ruthann James is an attorney with Phillips Law Group. She joined the firm in 2009 and works hard every day to pursue justice for victims hurt as a result of another’s negligence.

When asked about her “why” in regards to becoming an attorney, Ruthann said, “It was more like the law chose me…I had no idea at the time it would eventually become my life’s work.”

“I am inspired by my clients and my colleagues,” she added. “My clients fight through tragedy and pain every day. They dig deep to find the strength to carry on even when injured or grieving.”

Kathy AuCoin – Dayes Law Firm

Kathy AuCoin is a tax attorney at Dayes Law Firm, which works with Phillips Law Group. She recently joined our company and has experience in tax law, family law, real estate law, personal injury, probate, and estate planning. Plus, she has a background in real estate investments, business management, and small business strategy.

Kathy understands that every single case involves an in-depth look at a client’s specific situation to find the very best solution for them. She is extremely client-centric and totally devoted to her work – but she still manages to find time for herself, and in her free time, she enjoys anything involving the outdoors and staying active.

Celebrating Our Team Every Day

Although International Women’s Day at Phillips Law Group gives us a chance to highlight a few women on our staff, the truth is, our firm tries to make our team feel appreciated as much and as often as possible.

In fact, in our most recent Great Place to Work survey results, an incredible 99 percent of our team members said people celebrate special events at Phillips Law Group. We understand the importance of celebrating our staff members and our achievements, and International Women’s Day is just another amazing opportunity to do just that.
