Indiana University Athletics Sexual Assault Cases

Indiana University (IU) has recently faced serious allegations of sexual assault involving its athletic programs, particularly concerning Dr. Bradford Bomba Sr., a former physician for the men’s basketball team. Dr. Bomba served in this capacity from the 1960s through the 1990s. Unfortunately, multiple former student-athletes have accused him of sexual misconduct under the guise of medical examinations during that time period. A number of Indiana University Athletics sexual assault cases are being brought to light, and the survivors involved deserve justice. 

Indiana University Athletics Sexual Assault Instances: What Happened?

The allegations claim that Dr. Bomba conducted invasive and medically unnecessary procedures, including digital rectal examinations, on young, healthy athletes. These actions were reportedly common knowledge among team members and staff, yet no effective measures were taken to address or halt the misconduct. It is alleged that the school was aware this was happening but did nothing to stop Dr. Bomba.

A lawsuit was filed in October by two former players, Haris Mujezinovic and Charlie Miller, against the university’s trustees, according to NBC News. Kathleen Delaney, who represents them, said there could be “at least one hundred” alleged victims.

In a statement first reported by The Herald Times, Mujezinovic said after watching a deposition of Dr. Bomba, “He did not even try to justify what he did to me and others under the guise of ‘medical care.’ Watching him testify was a difficult experience for me, but an important step in the pursuit of justice.”
