Doing Good in the Community: Phillips Law Group Continues Volunteer Work

Every week, volunteers from Phillips Law Group participate in various activities that involve doing good in the community. We know the value of giving back to the community that sustains us, and our firm is proud to participate in outreach events that better the Phoenix area we know and love and call home.

How Phillips Law Group Gave Back in March

Our firm has lots of opportunities to give back to the community coming up in April, but first, we wanted to take a moment to look back at some of the outreach activities where we made a difference in March.

For instance, Phillips Law Group helped host another Feeding Arizona event with Cloud Covered Streets on March 4, where several volunteers made sure our homeless neighbors got showers, haircuts, clothes, food, and more. But that wasn’t the only time we teamed up with that organization to help the homeless!

On March 20, Phillips Law Group, in partnership with Cloud Covered Streets, went to a new location on Central and McDowell to offer services at New Life Church. This location in the heart of Phoenix worked out well, and volunteers gave those in need hair and makeup services but also handed out makeup bags to those who wanted them as well.

Plus, as has become the custom at a Feeding Arizona event, pet blessing bags were available, too. At this particular outing, a 7-month-old Doberman named Sophia got one of the bags and, according to Community Outreach Assistant Sharon Mews, “wasted no time playing with the dog toy” included.

All in all, 14 haircuts and showers as well as laundry services were provided at the March 20 event, and 41 breakfast meals and coffee were given to those in need. The 11 volunteers – including Phillips Law Group attorney Sean Davis –  not only helped with makeovers and nail trimming but more than 60 blessing bags were distributed to our homeless neighbors as well.

Volunteer Events, Blood Drives, and More

There were many other opportunities for Phillips Law Group volunteers to do good in the community in March, too. On March 7, for example, a group volunteered with Foster Alliance to decorate birthday bags for the kids the organization works with, and on March 8, a couple of volunteers worked with Maggie’s Place to stuff more than 500 Easter eggs for a celebration the nonprofit had planned!

Plus, our firm hosted a blood drive on March 13 in conjunction with Vitalant. Giving blood is a part of community care that many people can walk up and participate in, and our firm tries to offer a few opportunities throughout the year to make the option accessible for people.

According to a report from Vitalant, 18 units of life-saving blood were given at the March 13 event, and they weren’t all given by Phillips Law Group volunteers – a few members of the community came to give, too!

“This was a great opportunity for them to see how PLG reaches out to the community,” Sharon noted.
