Community Outreach Efforts Continue at Phillips Law Group

Community service is a cornerstone of the work Phillips Law Group does and how we operate as a firm. As a team, we are very proud of our active engagement with the community and have volunteer opportunities available for our staff several times a month. In the past few weeks, we have had the honor of taking part in several community outreach efforts, and we have many more planned throughout the rest of the year.

Arizona Helping Hands Volunteer Work

Phillips Law Group and Arizona Helping Hands often work together on tasks to make the smiles of the kids that AZ Helping Hands helps a little bit bigger and brighter.

Arizona Helping Hands’ mission is to “provide essential services to children in foster care through our programs promoting safety, permanency, and health.” They accomplish this mission through big initiatives like back-to-school drives, but they also work to help the children they serve in smaller ways that are still incredibly important.

For example, Phillips Law Group often volunteers with Arizona Helping Hands when it comes to putting together different goodie bags for the kids the organization works with. And on September 28th, a few volunteers from the firm helped put together birthday bags!

We really hope that the gifts included in the birthday bags bring big smiles to kids in foster care on their birthdays, and we are so excited to continue this partnership with AZ Helping Hands in the future.

St. Jude Walk/Run in Phoenix, AZ

On September 30th, several staff members from Phillips Law Group participated in the St. Jude Walk/Run alongside friends and other supporters. 18 enthusiastic participants represented our firm at the event, where we also had a table set up for other people taking part in the walk to get more information about the firm and our work.

Phillips Law Group offered water, donuts, fruit, and more to those in attendance, and many participants stopping by the table thanked firm volunteers for providing refreshments at the event.

In fact, the best part of the occasion was the attendees. There were several kids in attendance, and many stopped by to pick up Phillips Law Group stickers to decorate their capes and other costumes!

There were many families in attendance showing their support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – and some brought along their adorable pets, too. As for our team, everyone in attendance was thrilled to be there, and knew that they were a part of something great!  As a team, we raised hundreds of dollars for the hospital, and it was a wonderful event Phillips Law Group hopes to take part in again in the future if we have the chance.

Maggie’s Place Ongoing Partnership

Phillips Law Group continued its volunteer partnership with Maggie’s Place on October 6th. Seven volunteers helped wrap birthday presents for 10 children, choosing toys and books for each of the kids so they’d all get something special for their special day.

Each volunteer was given a list with a child’s name, age, interests, likes, etc. to personalize the presents for each kid, and carefully and beautifully wrapped each set of presents after picking out the gifts. In fact, gift bags and cards that Phillips Law Group volunteers made at previous volunteer events were used to put the gift bags together!

“It was rewarding for me personally to see the bags and cards that I had decorated in the past go to someone specific,” Sharon Mews, one of the volunteers, noted of the experience. “We know that these kids do not have much, and the hope is that our special touch of caring and love will be felt by each child that receives these gifts.”

Volunteers at the event also made more birthday cards for future use, with each adding their own creative touches to their own cards. In the end, 10 birthday bags were completed, and another 15 birthday cards were made and decorated to be used for more birthday bags to be distributed in the coming months. 10 additional birthday bags, decorated prior to the event, were brought back to Maggie’s Place to be used later, too.
