It seems like every week, there are multiple opportunities to get involved in the community with the help of Phillips Law Group. That proved true with volunteer activities in early June when people from the firm helped with everything from providing services to the homeless to creating birthday cards for kids and more.
Cloud Covered Streets – June 5
On June 5, Cloud Covered Streets and Phillips Law Group’s Feeding Arizona initiative worked together to provide meals, haircuts, and more to the homeless community.
Fifty breakfast sandwiches and lemonades were distributed to the homeless individuals who attended the event in downtown Phoenix, and haircuts, showers, and manicures were offered, too. Ultimately, twenty haircuts and showers were provided, and a handful of people enjoyed a lovely session at the event’s “nail salon.”
“The highlight of this event was the nail station,” Sharon Mews, the firm’s Community Outreach Assistant, shared.
She described how a volunteer did nails for two women who told their stories to her, and how, “it was unfortunate to hear all these ladies have gone through, but they were so thrilled to have Ilce make their nails look so good.”
Additionally, one individual told another volunteer about her story of losing a baby to medical malpractice. The volunteer listened to her and noted that the firm can refer her to someone who might be able to help. Those sorts of connections are exactly why Phillips Law Group goes out to make a difference however we can in the community.
NourishPHX – June 5
In 2023, Phillips Law Group began a volunteer partnership with NourishPHX. The organization has provided services for the working poor in Phoenix since the 1960s, and is a “trusted community hub serving vulnerable individuals and families by offering resources to satisfy immediate needs and to provide pathways to self-sufficiency,” according to the organization’s website.
At this volunteer opportunity, a few members of the Phillips Law Group staff sorted underwear that was donated for the individuals NourishPHX serves to use.
Maggie’s Place – June 7
Our firm regularly puts in community outreach time with Maggie’s Place. The nonprofit is dedicated to welcoming “pregnant and parenting women and their children into a safe and loving community, providing life-changing programs and ongoing services to help them to become self-sufficient.”
At this event, volunteers from the firm made birthday cards for the kids Maggie’s Place works with, ensuring that all the children they serve get a special, handmade card for their special day.
Foster Alliance – June 13
Finally, on June 13, a few Phillips Law volunteers helped out at The Foster Alliance. There, they put together packs of pencils for the back-to-school season for the kids the Alliance works with – children who are a part of the foster care community.
All of these volunteer activities in early June were important and meaningful to our volunteers in different ways. We have new opportunities to assist in the community all the time, and we would love to have new volunteers work with us at future events!
