One Dead After Two-Boat Collision on Bartlett Lake

PHOENIX, AZ – Maricopa County Sheriff deputies have identified the 65-year-old man who died after two fishing boats collided on Bartlett Lake Monday morning.

According to KGUN 9 News, Matthew Burlington was traveling against the traffic pattern at about 11 a.m. on March 8, when his bass boat drifted into the path of an oncoming boat.

The two boats collided head-on, causing the second vessel to ramp over the first. Both Burlington and the two individuals on the second boat were thrown into the water.

Burlington was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men, ages 61 and 72, sustained minor injuries.
