Man Seriously Injured in Crash After Firing at Police

red and blue police lights behind police linePHOENIX, AZ – A man was seriously injured after a shooting and subsequent multi-vehicle crash in Phoenix early Tuesday morning.

According to ABC 15, officers responded to reports of a reckless driver at about 2:30 a.m. When they made contact with the suspect, he fired a gun at them and fled the scene.

Moments later, the driver crashed into a fire hydrant and another vehicle near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Baseline Road.

Police discovered the suspect driver had a gunshot wound when he exited the vehicle. However, it is unclear how he sustained the injury. He was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

No additional injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Our team will update this blog should more information come to light.
