February 2025 was a busy month for volunteers from Phillips Law Group! Our February community service events ranged from making birthday cards for kids to serving veterans and so much more.
Cloud Covered Streets – February 5

A couple of volunteers from Phillips Law Group went and worked with Cloud Covered Streets on February 5th to serve the homeless at a location in Phoenix. They ultimately passed out 40 sandwiches and served two gallons of coffee and one gallon of lemonade to those in need.
“Everyone really enjoyed the sandwiches and hot coffee,” Sharon Mews, Community Outreach Assistant at Phillips Law Group, said. “We didn’t stay too long, as the quantity of the sandwiches matched the amount of folks at that location. They snagged them up so quickly, and it was a sobering reminder of how much our work is needed.”
“It’s hard to know when those experiencing homelessness have had their last hot meal,” she added. “It was our pleasure to be on location, helping the group at Cloud Covered Streets.”
Maggie’s Place – February 7 and February 21
Volunteers from the firm helped out at Maggie’s Place twice as part of our February community service events.
On February 7th, the task was to create a handful of birthday cards for the kids the organization serves. Such a simple job may seem small, but it makes a big difference to the children Maggie’s Place works with!

Then, on February 21st, Olga Phillips and the volunteer team brought lunch for the staff at Maggie’s Place so they could all sit down to eat and chat with the different staff that make the organization the success that it is. After enjoying the shared meal, volunteers worked on birthday bags for the kids, completing several in about an hour of volunteering side-by-side.
“We had a great time together!” Sharon noted.
Foster Alliance – February 13 and February 27
Volunteers also had a chance to work with The Foster Alliance a couple of times in February 2025.
On February 13th, a few birthday cards were made for Foster Alliance kids, but the February 27th volunteer opportunity was all about organizing new donation shipments for the non-profit.
“We got rid of several boxes of donations, sorted them, and labeled the clear containers with the items we put in them,” Sharon explained. But after that important task was done, she added that the volunteers and the entire Foster Alliance staff got together to take a group photo.
Sadly, Sharon will be retiring in March 2025 and leaving her role with Phillips Law Group, and she revealed how moved she was by the gesture.
“I was so touched, as the entire staff showed up for one last photo opp with my teammates,” she said. “It’s been an absolute privilege to work with this group of people!”
MANA House – February 19

Phillips Law Group volunteers worked together on February 19 to host a special event for Catholic Charities’ MANA (Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force) House, which serves veterans experiencing homelessness. It was the second annual “Hearts and Heroes” event and turned out to be a great success.
“The veterans loved the Valentine’s Day bingo, and they won some good prizes (Phillips Law Group merch and four gift cards),” Sharon said.
They also served lunch – taco salad – to the veterans as well as sugar cookies the volunteers brought along with sprinkles and icing to decorate them for Valentine’s Day. Plus, the firm donated a banner that read “Phillips Law Group Loves You,” in the spirit of the holiday. And earlier in the week, Phillips Law also donated five 56-quart containers of seasonal items and some backpacks that the organization may use for hygiene bags for the veterans.
“We had a great time, as always!” Sharon shared.
NourishPHX – February 25
Finally, on February 25, NourishPHX put Phillips Law Group volunteers to work sorting, labeling, and putting away donated clothes in the organization’s donation room.
“I was happy to see that the person who donated clothes gave some of her best!” Sharon noted. “These clothes still had tags on them, and man were they cute!”
“Someone would be so blessed to get this,” she added.
NourishPHX has been giving out clothes, food, and more for over 40 years, and every donation is incredibly appreciated.
