TEMPE, AZ – A motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a car in a south Tempe neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, ABC 15 News Arizona reports.

The motorcyclist was hit shortly before 4 p.m. while traveling north on Mill Avenue near the intersection at Southern Avenue.

Investigators believe the driver of a passenger vehicle failed to yield the right of way while turning left in front of the motorcycle. The vehicles collided and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering potentially life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries.

Speed is believed to have been a factor, according to Tempe police, but an investigation is ongoing.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not been released. We will continue to monitor this developing story for any further details should they be released to the public.
