Wellton Car Crash Injures Two Children; One Other

WELLTON, Ariz. ”“ A two-vehicle crash in Wellton on Tuesday morning, Sept. 1 left three with serious injuries, including two children. The accident occurred on Interstate 8, near milepost 34.

The two children were flown to a hospital in Phoenix withcritical injuries.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety(DPS), the crash happened at approximately 6:52 a.m. Investigators said a vehicle was speeding when it rear-ended another car in an eastbound lane of I-8, causing the vehicle to roll over. The woman with two children was injured and taken to a Yuma hospital. The at-fault driver and two others fled the scene on foot but were apprehended shortly after by state troopers. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
