Crash Involving a Light Rail Train Leaves One Dead

TEMPE, AZ – A Tempe man was killed after careening into a Valley Metro light rail train early Sunday morning.

According to ABC 15, the driver was traveling eastbound when his vehicle collided head-on with the westbound train near the intersection of Center Parkway and Washington Street shortly before 12:30 a.m.

The unidentified male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator and sole occupant of the train was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
