Female Pilot Stable After Plane Crashes onto Overpass

emergency vehicles on overpass at nightCHANDLER, AZ – A woman was rushed to the hospital after the small plane she was flying crashed into an overpass on Loop 202 in Chandler Sunday night.

According to CBS 5, the single-engine Cessna 172R was approaching the Stellar Airpark just after 8 p.m. when the pilot clipped the power lines and crashed onto the road below.

The plane’s 23-year-old pilot was the only individual on board at the time of the crash. She was taken to Chandler Regional Hospital in stable condition.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are leading an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
