Serious Crash in Central City South Leaves Four Injured

PHOENIX, AZ – A police officer and three children were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Central City South this morning, Fox 10 reports.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road at about 8 a.m., when an unmarked police SUV slammed into a passenger vehicle that was attempting to make a U-turn. Three children in the car were not wearing safety devices.

A three-year-old boy and four-year-old girl were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A six-year-old boy was also hurt, although the extent of his injuries is unclear. The driver of the car was seriously injured, while an adult female passenger was not.

The police officer also received serious injuries, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

Buckeye Road was closed to traffic in both directions between 19th and 20th Avenue as the crash was investigated and cleared from the roadway.
