One Dead After Being Hit by Box Truck in North Tucson

TUCSON, AZ – A woman was killed early this morning when she was struck by a box truck at an intersection in Flowing Wells.

According to KOLD, the incident occurred at Wetmore Road and Romero Road sometime before 7 a.m. Thursday.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released. Officials closed the intersection to investigate and advised motorists to avoid the area because of the resulting delays.

Update: Victim Identified in Fatal Tucson Pedestrian Accident

Authorities with the Tucson Police Department have identified the woman killed.

The driver of the truck was attempting to make a left turn from Romero Road to Ruthrauff Road when he struck 63-year-old Arlene Matus in the intersection.

Matus was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene.

No charges have been filed against the driver at the time of this writing.
