Yuma Crash Severely Injures Pedestrian

underside of helicopter in the skyYUMA, AZ – A woman suffered serious injuries after being struck while standing in a busy roadway in Yuma on Sunday night.

According to KYMA, the woman was hit at about 9:13 p.m. as she stood in the 5700 block of East 32nd Street and waved her hands.

Two motorists attempted unsuccessfully to swerve out of the way but could not avoid hitting the woman. Both drivers stopped to render aid to the 20-year-old female pedestrian, as did several bystanders.

The woman was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital for treatment. Investigators believe she may have been impaired at the time of the accident.
