Man Identified in Pedestrian Crash in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ – Police in Tucson have identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian collision that took place late Sunday night.

According to KOLD, 58-year-old Michael Bernard Ortiz was struck by a 2013 Subaru BRZ within the 1100 block of W. Ajo Way at about 9:30 p.m. on February 14.

First responders attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful and pronounced Ortiz dead at the scene.

The unidentified driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation.

Police believe Ortiz was wearing dark clothing and crossing outside of the designated crosswalk when he was hit. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
