PHOENIX, AZ – A young boy was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle near Thomas Road Tuesday evening.

According to CBS 5, the incident happened on 36th Street north of the intersection with Thomas Road at about 6 p.m.

Police believe the boy stepped into traffic away from the designated crosswalk and was struck by a blue compact sedan. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital to be treated for potentially life-threatening injuries.

The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
