Wrong-Way Crash Results in DUI, Murder Charges

gavel on book that says DUISIERRA VISTA, AZ – A Border Patrol agent from Sierra Vista is facing several charges in connection to a suspected DUI crash that killed a child last Friday, KOLD reports.

The incident occurred on June 18th as 38-year-old Clifford James Johnson, an off-duty Border Patrol agent, was driving in the oncoming lanes of SR-90, just outside of Sierra Vista.

Johnson’s vehicle crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle, killing his 9-year-old passenger. Two other children were transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Two adults in the second vehicle also sustained serious injuries in the wreck.

Johnson suffered only minor injuries and was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI, second-degree murder, endangerment, child abuse and criminal damage. He was booked into the Cochise County Jail.
