MARICOPA, AZ – One person was killed and two others were rushed to the hospital after a major head-on collision in Maricopa early Tuesday morning, CBS 5 reports.
The two-vehicle crash took place at about 2 a.m. along Maricopa Casa Grande Highway, near the intersection with Russell Road.
Investigators believe the unidentified driver of a pickup truck attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and then collided with an oncoming sedan. The driver of the truck was ejected from the vehicle as a result.
Both drivers were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The front-seat passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear if impairment played a role in the crash at this time.
