TEMPE, AZ – A serious auto accident was reported on Friday afternoon in Tempe. According to AZFamily, the crash happened on Loop 202/Red Mountain Freeway close to Scottsdale Road at around 3 p.m.

No details on what led to the crash have been released at this time.

We can confirm that all eastbound lanes were closed for some time for investigation and cleanup. During that time, traffic was backed up to Sky Harbor Boulevard.

An ambulance was called to the scene, but the nature and extent of any injuries remain unclear.
