One Dead After Head-On Collision Near Wickenburg

WICKENBURG, AZ – One person is dead and another was taken to the hospital after a van collided head-on with a semi-truck just outside of Wickenburg on Thursday.

According to ABC 15, the incident was reported shortly before 8 a.m. along the stretch of US-93 between SR-71 and I-40.

Investigators say the driver of a passenger van was traveling northbound on the highway when the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the southbound lanes. The van then collided head-on with a semi-truck at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the van, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. That individual has not been identified at this time.

The truck driver was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
