Motorcyclist Killed in East Mesa Collision on Loop 202

MESA, AZ – One person was killed as the result of a motorcycle accident on a freeway in east Mesa on Thursday evening, CBS 5 reports.

The collision happened in the southbound lanes of Loop 202 near the exit to Elliot Road, sometime before 6 p.m.

Ethan Voorhees, an 18-year-old resident of Mesa, was traveling at high speed with a group of motorcyclists when he struck the back of a Nissan sedan and then a median cable, throwing him from his Yamaha motorcycle. Emergency responders took Voorhees to an area hospital, where he died.

The driver of the Nissan was uninjured.
