Red Light Runner Who Caused 3-Vehicle Crash Dies

USPS fatal accidentTUCSON, AZ – A 28-year-old man died in a collision with a USPS vehicle at an intersection in East Tucson on Tuesday afternoon.

According to KOLD, the three-vehicle crash took place just after 2:30 p.m. within the intersection of Golf Links Road and Pantano Parkway.

Police say Cheyenne Dakota-Dean Updyke attempted to swerve around westbound traffic at the intersection when he ran the red light and struck a postal truck. His 2000 Ford Expedition then rolled over before striking a third vehicle.

Updyke was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing him running red lights in the area prior to the crash.

No other injuries were reported as a direct result of the crash.
