TUCSON, AZ – A driver is dead after a tire flew off of a tractor-trailer and crashed through the windshield, KOLD reports.

The incident occurred on April 13th at about 9:41 a.m., as the unidentified driver of a sedan was traveling north on I-19 near Pima Mine Road.

Officials with Arizona DPS have not released any further information regarding the identities of those involved.

The northbound lanes along this portion of I-19 were shut down for several hours while investigators worked at the scene.

No other injuries were reported from the fatal crash.
