Man Hit By Car, Killed While Crossing 16th Street

PHOENIX, AZ – Police in Phoenix were called to the scene of a fatal auto vs. pedestrian accident Tuesday night, CBS 5 News reports.

The collision happened at about 7 p.m. when a 51-year-old man was attempting to cross 16th Street near Indian School Road.

Officers say a vehicle struck the victim as he was crossing mid-block, outside of the designated crosswalk.

The unidentified pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The 21-year-old male driver remained at the scene, and impairment is not believed to be a factor at this time.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
