Phillips Law Group Builds Bikes and Birthday Kits for Foster Youth in Northern Arizona

Spread the love

Phillips Law Group recently brought 90 team members together in Flagstaff to build bicycles, provide helmets, and assemble birthday kits for children in foster care across northern Arizona. The firm also donated $15,000 to support the project with The Foster Alliance, according to AZFamily’s coverage of the volunteer event.

A Flagstaff Volunteer Day With a Lasting Purpose

A bicycle can mean more than recreation. For a young person, it can offer a sense of freedom, help make a neighborhood feel more accessible, and create the kind of ordinary childhood memory that deserves to be available to every child. That understanding shaped a hands-on volunteer project that moved Phillips Law Group employees away from their desks and into an assembly line focused on northern Arizona foster youth.

During the event, employees assembled new bicycles and prepared helmets so children would receive both the excitement of a new ride and the safety equipment needed to enjoy it. Founder and CEO Jeffrey Phillips, whom AZFamily described as an avid cyclist, joined the effort.

Bringing 90 coworkers into one project also changed what could be accomplished in a limited amount of time. Teams could divide the work among bicycle assembly, safety preparation, birthday-kit packing, and handwritten details rather than treating each task as a separate event. That structure turned the day into more than a donation presentation; it became a working volunteer operation designed to place usable resources in the hands of children and caregivers.

Community impact at a glance: The Flagstaff project combined a $15,000 donation, the work of 90 Phillips Law Group team members, bicycles and helmets for foster youth, and birthday kits designed to help children feel celebrated.

Why the Partnership With The Foster Alliance Matters

The Foster Alliance supports children and caregivers by providing essential resources throughout the foster-care journey. Its programs include safe-sleep supplies, clothing and other essential items, school supplies, licensing and safety kits, holiday gifts, and personalized birthday support. The organization says it opened a Flagstaff location and added mobile services in 2025, expanding its ability to reach families beyond the Phoenix area.

“We support the foster care community by providing essentials to benefit children in foster care.”

— The Foster Alliance mission statement

The need is broad and practical. The Foster Alliance reports that it distributed more than $5.5 million in essential resources during the previous year. It also says its Birthday Dreams program provides more than 400 personalized birthday gifts each month to children, teenagers, and young adults in foster care.

Birthday Kits Added Another Kind of Celebration

The volunteer day was not limited to bicycles. Phillips Law Group employees also assembled “party in a bag” kits containing cake mix, candles, decorations, and other birthday essentials. The kits align with The Foster Alliance’s belief that celebrating a birthday can be as important to a child’s sense of belonging as receiving clothing or school supplies.

A birthday package cannot change every challenge a young person faces, but it can send a clear message: this day matters, and so do you. That is why the Flagstaff project paired a large group activity with smaller, personal details. The bicycles offered movement and adventure. The helmets supported safe riding. The birthday kits created the possibility of a celebration centered on the child.

A Partnership Built Through Repeated Service

The Flagstaff event expanded an existing relationship rather than beginning a new one. Phillips Law Group has previously documented an earlier birthday-bag volunteer project with The Foster Alliance. The firm’s community-involvement page also states that employees volunteer with the organization regularly and that Phillips Law Group sponsored a delivery van in 2023 to help bring supplies to foster families who could not travel to a resource center.

That continuity matters. Nonprofit organizations need more than one-time visibility; they need reliable volunteers, funding, transportation, and community partners who understand that needs continue after an event ends. The latest Flagstaff project shows how an established relationship can grow into a larger effort that reaches a different part of the state.

Community Support Continues After the Last Bike Is Built

Phillips Law Group’s $15,000 contribution and the work of 90 volunteers created a memorable day in Flagstaff, but the larger value lies in what happens next. Children will ride the bicycles. Caregivers will have another resource to offer. Birthday kits will become individual celebrations. The Foster Alliance will continue serving families from its Flagstaff location and through mobile outreach.

For Phillips Law Group, the project reflects a broader commitment to showing up for Arizona communities in practical ways. For The Foster Alliance, it is another example of what becomes possible when local organizations contribute money, time, and attention to the needs of foster youth.
