YOU NEED A PHILLIPS!

If you or a loved one were a patient, visitor, employee, vendor, or contractor at the Northwell Health Sleep Disorder Center and Stars Rehabilitation Center in Nassau County and believe you were recorded without consent in a private space, you may have grounds for a lawsuit.

A former Northwell employee, Sanjai Syamaprasad, allegedly installed covert recording devices in bathrooms at the facility, violating the privacy and trust of countless individuals. But it took Northwell Health a year to inform those who may be impacted, and the hospital is now facing allegations of negligence, failure to provide timely disclosure to victims, and more, leading to legal action.

Individuals affected by these incidents may be able to pursue a class-action lawsuit against Northwell Health and Syamaprasad.

Were You a Victim of Illegal Surveillance at Northwell Health?

Nassau County Police have revealed that 47-year-old Syamaprasad “used fake smoke detectors embedded with hidden cameras, which he attached inside the bathrooms with Velcro patches — some placed on the ceilings directly above the toilets,” to secretly film people in the bathrooms at Northwell Health’s Sleep Disorder Center and Stars Rehabilitation Center.

The recordings were discovered after an employee caught Syamaprasad watching someone using the bathroom on his laptop, resulting in an investigation, NBC 4 New York reported. It wasn’t until a year later that approximately 13,000 letters were sent by Northwell Health to people who were potentially impacted.

At Phillips Law Group, we are aggressively investigating claims against Northwell Health for negligence, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress stemming from this disturbing breach of security. Hospitals and healthcare providers have a legal duty to protect patients and staff from such violations, and when they fail, they must be held accountable.

Charges and Legal Claims Stemming from Syamaprasad’s Arrest

Syamaprasad has been charged with five counts of unlawful surveillance and tampering with evidence by the Nassau District Attorney’s Office. While he was indicted for secretly filming patients and staff in sensitive areas, Northwell Health may also bear liability for failing to prevent or detect these crimes.

Victims could be entitled to compensation for psychological trauma, humiliation, and other damages. If you suspect you were recorded at this Northwell facility in New York, you deserve justice.
