- Young Man Killed in Tucson Pedestrian As a Result of a Drag Race | Legal News | News Ticker
Drag racing is an activity that is generally taken part in by young people, and it’s illegal almost everywhere in the United States because of the obvious dangers it presents to anyone involved and to anyone in the area at the time. Unfortunately, outlawing this practice does not prevent it from occurring. Tragically, police suspect that a drag race was taking place yesterday afternoon that led to a fatal Tucson pedestrian accident when a man who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time was hit and killed. Police have made one arrest in the matter.
According to authorities, this fatal Tucson pedestrian accident occurred yesterday at approximately 3 p.m. on South Campbell Avenue at East Minorka Street, near East Drexel Road. According to witnesses, two cars were headed south on South Campbell Avenue in a race when one of the vehicles veered out of control, slammed into a fire hydrant and then hit the unidentified pedestrian, killing him instantly. The pedestrian was believed to be in his teens. Since then, police have arrested 18-year-old Daniel J. Amado on suspicion of leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
