Veterans Day Highlights Government Support

Each year, Americans across the nation spend an entire day recognizing the amazing accomplishments, sacrifices, and service that all veterans in the United States provide. As these veterans return home from service, they often find themselves at a loss when attempting to adjust to normal daily living. Unfortunately, however, many veterans have trouble recovering without the assistance of government programs.

Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, made several statements on Veterans Day in regard to the governments agenda which goes beyond a simple thank you, but extends a helping hand. According to Sebelius, the Obama administration and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are committed to the men and women who have served our nation and are helping to ensure that they lead fulfilling lives at home.

In fulfilling their commitment, the government has recognized a number either new or improved programs that will benefit veterans across the nation. Programs such as crisis counseling for veterans, access to behavioral health services, and job opportunities for veterans within the health care field will truly make a difference in the lives on veterans.
