- Update: Arizona Tour Bus Accident Was Carrying Chinese Tourists, Highlighting Legal Rights Issues for Visitors | Legal News | News Ticker
We posted yesterday about a fatal Arizona tour bus accident that led to the deaths of two people and to serious injuries for eight other travelers. As more information becomes available, we have learned that those who were riding in the bus were Chinese tourists. The passengers have had an opportunity to provide statements and witness accounts of this horrifying crash, and the situation brings to light the issue of how foreign visitors can enforce legal rights when they are injured in Arizona.
The fatal Arizona bus accident in question occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 8 a.m. when a tour bus was headed towards the Grand Canyon after beginning its journey in Las Vegas. Suddenly, as the bus traveled along Pierce Ferry Road near milepost 23, the bus drifted off the road and rolled over several times. People were violently thrown about in the passenger cabin, and the bus ultimately came to rest along the shoulder of the road. The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries, as he was wearing a seat belt.
Arizona Traffic Accident Statistics
We hope that those who have lost loved ones have been informed of this tragedy in China at this point so that they can do what needs to be done, and we also hope that those eight people who were seriously injured are able to recover. This fatal Arizona bus accident will only add to the overall statistics regarding Arizona traffic accidents. Every year, approximately 65,000 people are injured and another 1,000 people are killed in these occurrences, and those numbers have held steady for several years.
Arizona Personal Injury Lawyers
One question that’s bound to be asked is whether the people who were injured or killed in this crash have legal rights given their country of origin. The simple answers to that question is that yes, they do have the same legal rights as anyone else in this situation. Anyone who is injured or killed in Arizona because of negligence has the right to attempt to hold those responsible for these tragedies accountable, and doing so is a process that’s manageable if those who seek to obtain justice secure the proper help.
