- Two People Killed in Wrong-Way Phoenix Car Accident
When people head out onto the highway, they tend to expect that certain mistakes could be made by other drivers. While experienced drivers mostly feel as though they’ve seen it all, few would ever expect to see a vehicle coming at them while driving in the wrong direction on a highway, especially in an HOV lane. Tragically, that’s what occurred over the weekend in a Phoenix car accident that killed two people. While authorities have not yet made a final determination, they do suspect that alcohol could have been a factor in the crash.
This fatal Phoenix car accident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Saturday on Interstate 10 near 40th Street. A pickup truck was traveling in a westward direction in the eastbound lanes of the highway, and it eventually crashed head-on into a Nissan sedan that was being driven by 22-year-old Adrice Lynn McMichael. Tragically, the impact led to her death as well as the death of her passenger, 24-year-old Malissa Therese Jaime. The driver of the pickup truck, 25-year-old Alex Naranjo of Phoenix, was seriously injured but survived the crash.
Arizona Car Accident Statistics
First, we’d like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the women who were killed. To lose two lives in this senseless manner is about as tragic as it gets, and we hope that their families are able to overcome their intense grief at some point. In addition, this fatal Phoenix car accident will also become part of the overall statistics regarding Arizona car accidents. Every year in the state, more than 65,000 people are injured and more than 1,000 people are killed in these crashes.
How A Lawyer May Be Able To Help
It’s likely that the driver of the pickup truck will face significant criminal charges. In addition, he could face civil liability if the families of the women who were killed file Arizona wrongful death lawsuits. If these claims are filed and are successful, it could lead to an award of damages that includes compensation for medical, funeral and burial costs as well as lost income and loss of companionship.
If you have lost someone you love to a reckless driver, you need to seek the help of Phoenix wrongful death lawyers who have been fighting successfully on behalf of grieving families for many years. Contact Phillips Law Group today to schedule a free initial consultation.

I have been with Phillips Law Group for a little over a year and I have learned what teamwork and family in a workplace looks like. There is always someone around to lend a helping hand, which is something I appreciate and cherish. I feel a sense of joy coming to work every day because of my co-workers as well as being able to help people in what can be a scary and stressful situation. I currently work as a Litigation Legal Assistant with an amazing team. When I started here, I was not very knowledgeable in personal injury. I was lucky to have been placed with an amazing team who was willing to take time to teach and pass on some great skills that have been a huge aid in helping me be successful in my position. I would recommend working here at Phillips Law Group, because they care about their employees and there is so much room for growth.

I’ve been working at Phillips Law Group for nearly four years and I can confidently say this is the best personal injury firm in Arizona to work for. The firm is the best for numerous reasons but to start, Phillips Law Group gives employees opportunities for promotions and growth. I started working within the settlement department, moved to a paralegal assistant and grew to be a pre-litigation paralegal with my own case load. Each attorney I have worked for is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. Secondly, I love how Phillips Law shows appreciation for employees. They host Friday Zoom Huddles giving out PTO, goodie bags, special shout outs, bonuses and gift cards. They also host extravagant holiday parties and fun contests during the Holidays! Lastly, the firm cares about giving back to the community, which is a trait I value as well. It’s rewarding to see a fast paced firm taking time out of their busy day to pay it forward. I would highly recommend working at Phillips Law Group!

Although my accident was fortunately not a major one, The Phillips Law Group AZ treated it as such. Their staff, specifically Mr Juan Roque was very professional, courteous and most importantly very informative. Mr Roque's attentive service was phenomenal and I highly recommend this firm!

Kathy Hudson and Donato Giovanatto. Continues to go above and beyond the call of duty. Reaching out to the insurance company about the damage to the vehicle. Forcing them to take responsibility.
