- Toyota Suspends Production of Eight Models After Recall
Last week, Toyota announced that it was initiating a massive recall of approximately 2.3 million models of different Toyota vehicles. The reason for the recall was a dangerous defect that led to the gas pedal sticking in a position near the floor. At the time, Toyota’s only ‘remedy’ for the situation was to continue driving these models that could be affected and to call the nearest dealership if anyone experienced this problem. The Toyota recall and the response has drawn intense criticism and prompted calls to Toyota recall lawyers across the United States. Now comes word that Toyota has taken another step in response to this situation, and it’s quite drastic and rare.
Toyota Recall Lawyers – Toyota’s Next Step
Toyota has been besieged by more than one recall in recent months, as this latest issue comes on the heels of another Toyota recall that affected approximately 4 million models last year and that were sold under the Lexus brand name. That recall was in response to the discovery of the same defect, and now that more than 6 million models have been recalled, Toyota has apparently decided to take a closer look at what could be causing this problem with their vehicles.
The company has announced that it has suspended both the production and the sale of eight different models. While suspending the sale of potentially defective vehicles is somewhat common, suspending their production is not. The following Toyota models are affected by the latest announcement:
- 2009-2010 RAV4
- 2009-2010 Corolla
- 2009-2010 Matrix
- 2005-2010 Avalon
- Certain 2007-2010 Camrys
- 2010 Highlander
- 2007-2010 Tundra
- 2008-2010 Sequoia
The duration of the suspension is believed to be for about one week as technicians attempt to identify what could be leading to the problems that are arising with this gas pedal part.
