Tassimo Coffee Makers Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and BSH Home Appliances Corp. are voluntarily recalling the Tassimo Single-Cup Brewer due to a burn hazard. The plastic disc referred to as the “T disc”, that holds the coffee or tea can burst while brewing. There have been 140 reports of the brewer spraying hot liquid on people, including 37 reports of individuals receiving second-degree burns. In one incident a ten-year old Minnesota girl was hospitalized after receiving second-degree burns to her face and neck.

The recall includes Tassimo coffee makers under the brand name Bosch and the Tassimo Professional. The following models have been recalled:

• Bosch TAS100
• Bosch TAS200
• Bosch TAS451
• Bosch TAS46
• Bosch TAS651
• Tassimo Professional TAS6512CUL

The recalled Bosch models have a date codes starting with “FD” ranging from 8806 through 9109, while the Tassimo professional has a date code beginning with FD ranging from 8905 through 9109. The date code and model number can be located on the bottom of the brewer. Over 835,000 defective brewers were sold in the U.S. between June 2008 and February 2012.

All consumers should immediately stop using the brewer and contact the company for a free replacement T disc.
