- Suspected Phoenix DUI Accident Injures Two People | Legal News | News Ticker
Drinking and driving is always extremely dangerous, and when someone makes this terrible decision, that person places everyone in his or her area in a position of immediate and extreme danger. There are times when no one is hurt because of this conduct, but there are other instances where innocent people wind up fighting for their lives. While it’s too early to know definitively if alcohol was a factor, police suspect that it was in an alleged Phoenix DUI accident that left two people injured, one critically.
According to police, this suspected Phoenix DUI accident occurred at 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning when the driver of a Mitsubishi was driving in a westward direction in the eastbound lanes of the Carefree Highway between Seventh Avenue and 23rd Avenue. At that point, the unidentified driver collided head-on with the driver of a Kia. The woman in the Mitsubishi was seriously injured but her life is not in danger. The unidentified driver of the Kia suffered critical injuries, and police suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

If it turns out that the wrong-way driver was under the influence of alcohol, she will likely face serious criminal charges. In addition, it’s possible that the woman who was critically injured could file an Arizona personal injury lawsuit against the suspected drunk driver. If such a lawsuit is filed and is successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensates the woman for her medical costs, her lost income and her pain and suffering.
